Gainesville, Florida’s Eastside High School was where Richardson competed. He accumulated 1,633 rushing yards and 41 scores in addition to 4,633 passing yards during his time playing in high school. He gave his word that he would play collegiate football for the University of Florida.
During his first year at Florida in 2020, Richardson played in just four games, completing one of his two passes for 27 yards with a score and an interception. In September 2022, Richardson played a key role in a surprise victory over the seventh-ranked Utah Utes. Richardson declared he would participate in the 2023 NFL Draft after the 2022 season ended.
